PeakActivity and FAU Help Shape The Minds of Students with AR

BOYNTON BEACH, FL, OCTOBER 2020PeakActivity's Emerging Technology & Innovation department has recently partnered with Florida Atlantic University’s Department of Computer & Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in order to help foster emerging disruptive technologies within the local South Florida community.

Providing real-world experiences for students to utilize within their portfolios is the goal of PeakActivity’s Emerging Technology & Innovation department. Shaping the minds of today’s students will in turn shape the future of the South Florida community. Together, PeakActivity and FAU will be working on new technology, such as machine learning and augmented reality, to provide 3D mappings and spatial computing renders for a wide range of industries.

VP of Innovation Rob Petrosino commented, “We are proud to partner with FAU and are excited to be working alongside their amazing students and teams to create augmented reality experiences for real world problems.”

PeakActivity strives to provide educational and work experiences for South Florida career-aspiring students. Throughout the past several years, many members of the PeakActivity team have been involved in growing their relationship with higher education facilities around South Florida in capacities including speaking events, internship programs, career opportunities, and now their partnership with FAU.

Dr. Hari Kalva, professor and associate chair in the Department of Computer & Electrical Engineering and Computer Science noted, “We are excited that PeakActivity is able to work with and mentor a team of students in our Engineering Design course. Working with PeakActivity gives our students opportunities to apply cutting edge technologies to solve hard problems.”

The projected completion of this project is May 2021, which will be the end of the spring semester for students at FAU. PeakActivity hopes to build meaningful relationships through this partnership with possible career opportunities within the technology innovation industry for these students.
